Everyone has an A-side. But there’s usually a lot more worth listening to.
SIDE A
Most people have an A-side. It’s the version of themselves that gets played first. The one that comes up during introductions, on résumés, and in the inevitable “tell us a little about yourself” conversations.
For Rachel, that side sounds pretty straightforward. She’s a marketing student with a concentration in fashion, an interest in creative communications, and a love for bringing ideas to life. Whether she’s developing a marketing campaign, designing something in Canva, or brainstorming a new concept, she’s always looking for ways to make things stand out.
But like any good record, there’s another side worth listening to.
SIDE B
Flip the record over, and things get a little less predictable.
Long before Rachel was interested in marketing, she was finding ways to express herself through music and performance. Her love for music started with her dad, who’s a drummer, band member, and ’80s kid with a love for rock and roll. That passion, love for music, and natural feel for rhythm rubbed off on her, so Rachel taught herself how to play the drums. She’s also learned piano and guitar over the years, although the drums are the only instrument she currently plays. Her love for performing doesn’t stop there, either. She’s participated in countless theater productions and even spent time singing for a record label.
Rachel has always been an expressive person. She’s often told that she wears her emotions on her sleeve, which is something she considers one of her greatest strengths as a performer. Whether she’s behind a drum kit or onstage, she loves making people feel something. Music is a huge part of her life, but it’s definitely not her only interest. Fashion, visual design, film, and just about anything creative have all found their way into the mix.
Her interests might seem a little all over the place, but she doesn’t really see them that way. Whether she’s coming up with an idea for a marketing campaign or crafting a new fill on the drums, she loves getting creative and seeing where an idea takes her. That’s part of what interests her about marketing and interactive media. She likes the challenge of figuring out what will catch someone’s attention and connect with them emotionally.
NOW SPINNING — The B Side
So, what can readers expect from The B Side? Well, even Rachel isn’t entirely sure yet.
Whatever the topic, The B Side is about looking beyond what’s right in front of you and exploring things from a different perspective. Sometimes, flipping the record is all it takes to find something unexpected.
No skips. Just a little bit of everything.
